Atomicorp and Virgil Security Partner to Update OSSEC's Encryption

Rebecca Yarbrough — April 24th, 2018

Virgil Security, Inc. is proud to announce that we have partnered with the Atomicorp team to update the cryptography used in OSSEC, the open-source Host-based Intrusion Detection system (HIDS) used by Fortune 500 companies such as Netflix and Facebook.

The Virgil Security team has upgraded OSSEC encryption using the NoiseSocket Protocol, developed by Alexey Ermishkin and Trevor Perrin using the same tech behind the messaging app Signal. OSSEC is now End-to-End Encrypted with Perfect Forward Secrecy to keep enterprise servers secure and compliant with GDPR and HIPAA standards.

Atomicorp pulls together members of the open source community like Virgil Security to maintain OSSEC and help enterprises detect the signs of intrusions on servers and catch malware and hacks before it’s too late.

With almost daily news about data breaches, this update to modern encryption technology is timely and significant.

The Atomicorp and Virgil Security teams met during MACH37, a cybersecurity accelerator based in Northern Virginia and this is just the first of several anticipated collaborations.
